Bust-out — a credit card crime otherwise known as first-party fraud — was busting a Fortune 50 financial firm's bottom line, big time. Opera created a predictive model based on a neural network framework to help them see it coming — and reduced their annual losses by $100MM.

Differentiating the Debtors

By treating all debtors the same, a Top 3 US retail bank was getting a consistent result in their collections efforts — a bad one. By using a broader range of predictive inputs as well as ability-to-pay metrics, Opera reduced charge-offs 10% and increased collections by $30-$40MM.
