Our culture

At Opera Solutions, we don't just believe in a healthy work/life balance. We live it. You'll see this in the Jersey City office, with its gym, wine bar, and pool and ping-pong tables. You'll also experience it on Fridays, when, all over the world in all our offices, we come together for lunch and informal catch-ups with our peers. And you'll get into it at special dinners, sporting event outings, and bowling nights, as well as the-more-the-merrier ski trips, cooking classes, charity events, wine-tasting sessions, and much more.

In addition, Opera sponsors many special interest groups, athletic teams, and social events. For example:

Women in Business Women professionals have unique experiences and challenges throughout their careers. To share and meet them, Opera Women in Business (WIB) was founded to discuss relevant issues and support each other in their business lives.

Opera WIB, or Opera Women in Business, was created at the end of 2007. It was first established in the New York office, and then in London and New Delhi. In 2011, WIB Shanghai, WIB Paris, and WIB San Diego were started.

WIB has two functions:

1. Mentoring: Support orientation activities for new female hires, invite outstanding speakers to discuss their career progression and success tips, organize internal panels to discuss relevant issues, participate in WIB conferences and other development activities in NYC, San Diego, New Delhi, Shanghai and London.

2. Networking: Organize group recreational activities to promote bonding within and across all offices. These include community outreach events, as well as social gatherings where women at all levels get to know each other in an informal setting.

Opera Musicians Opera has several highly trained and accomplished musicians. They come together to practice and perform jam sessions at the office.

Personal Investments This group holds seminars on personal finance/investing and conducts an annual stock market competition.

Athletics & Fitness Opera supports the physical fitness of its employees by sponsoring a robust team athletics program including volleyball, basketball, badminton, tennis, golf, dodge ball, soccer, and running. In addition, we have a fully equipped gym at our Jersey City office and most recently our Delhi office.

Other Social Activities There's a social butterfly in everyone at Opera, as evidenced by the healthy turnout at monthly social gatherings, sporting events, concerts at our box in New York City's Madison Square Garden, and our own "Third Friday" cultural presentations.

Each office puts its own unique spin on mixing business with pleasure. In San Diego, for example, there's a high tea every other week. For those who prefer a different kind of beverage, once a month there's a whiskey tasting hosted in the home of one of our employees. The group pitches in to supply snacks and desserts while Opera donates a select bottle of whiskey.

On Fridays, some of the team members from the Boston office enjoy an ice-cold beer at a local bar to kick off the weekend.

In Shanghai, sports reign. The office supports events such as equestrian, tennis, badminton, swimming, yoga, golf, billiards, and bowling. And as if the team weren't busy enough, they recently went out for a night of karaoke with the new hires.

Our India office is no stranger to competition. Recently, the office sponsored it 2nd FIFA soccer tournament, 15 teams competed in a week-long competition. Along with sporting events, once a year the India team travels to an offsite location for a fun-filled weekend. This year the team went to Ranthambore National Park, the largest national park in Northern India, where some successfully sighted Indian tigers, while others were equally successful in sampling what the local bars had to offer.

Our European offices also take part in fun off-sites. This year the team went White Water Rafting on the newly opened London Olympic white water rafting course at the Lee Valley Regional Park.
